Flying Samaritans: Charity of the Month

The Flying Samaritans are a group of physicians, nurses, dentists, pilots, translators and others who offer medical assistance and education to the people in rural areas of Mexico, free of charge. With four primary missions- primary care, specialty care, education and emergency care- the Flying Samaritans can only practice in areas with no doctors, unless working with Mexican doctors. They provide care for the 60% of the Mexican population who are ineligible for Mexican Social Security medical care.

The Flying Sams are working at the invitation and with close collaboration with UABC. Part of their mission is to help train medical and dental graduates who are interested in gaining practical experience. In addition to everything else they do The Flying Samaritans, a group of over 1500 members,  also assist with disaster relief!

Before he passed away in 2018, Louis van deer Beek, MD, Keystone Shop’s Chief Medical Officer, spent countless hours working with Flying Samaritans. He donated much of his time and resources to ensure proper medical treatment could reach those who would otherwise be forgotten. Keystone Shops is honored to support Flying Samaritans.
