There’s no doubt that the past couple of months have been a trying time for everyone, and there’s no one who hasn’t felt the effects of the current pandemic personally. At Keystone Shops, we recognize the privilege we have in being an essential business that has been able to continue operations amid the coronavirus lockdown, and we’re very happy we’ve been able to continue serving our community. With that in mind, we are proud to feature Philabundance as our Keystone Kares for the month of May. This organization is not only close to our hearts, but very close to us in proximity, being just around the corner from our South Philly location!

1 in 5 people in Philadelphia face hunger, no doubt making it a huge crisis in our community. A food bank and a member of Feeding America, Philabundance receives, packages, and distributes food to those in need in the greater Philadelphia area. This can range anywhere from delivering standard groceries to freshly prepared meals. Food is distributed through their network of over 400 partners, including churches, hospitals, schools, libraries, and other accessible places.

Undoubtedly, providing those in need with food is an exceptional service, and because of coronavirus, there are more and more people in need and it has become increasingly difficult for individuals to safely get food for themselves and their families. Philabundance is able to continue safely provide food and meals to those in need, even during this pandemic, and we are enthusiastic about supporting their service.

Keystone Shops will have our regular donation jars at our entrance and/or check in points. Due to COVID-19 and for the safety of our staff, patients, and those at Philabundance, we are not able to hold a food drive, as there is a need to prevent any cross contamination. In its place and in addition to our donation jars, we will be accepting donations online through our virtual campaign, which can be found here.

We appreciate any support you are able to offer during these trying times, and as always Keystone Shops will be matching the amount of money donated. For more information about Philabundance, visit their website at www.philabundance.org
