Tyler, Caregiver for Keystone at Home
Meet Tyler, our Keystone at Home Caregiver driver who’s been bringing our patients their medications through our medical marijuana home drop off program! Tyler loves the outdoors, fly fishing, and has a background in horticulture. Check out our blog to learn more about Tyler and his experience with medical marijuana!
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I studied horticulture at Penn State so I have a little background on plants, but much more so on medical marijuana. I love making ambient music with synth instruments.
What made you want to try medical marijuana?
I have scoliosis and medical marijuana helps to mitigate my pain as well as get me through the day. It helps me to be able to do activities I normally wouldn’t be able to do without some sort of heavy pain medication. I can enjoy the outdoors again, like fishing, without fear of back pain.
What do you take medical marijuana for?
I basically take medical marijuana to feel a sense of normality that I wouldn’t be able to feel any other way. My pain and muscle spasms make having fun difficult. I’m able to quell my pains with medical marijuana much more efficiently than opioids which have only made me feel worse.
What products/strains/terpenes/cannabinoids/consumption methods have you found to be the most helpful for you when treating your condition?
I feel the flower works best for me. I like vaporizing it and the Mighty battery from Storz and Bickel is my go to. I also use the Dr. Solomon’s transdermal lotions from GTI.
What would you tell patients who may have conditions or backgrounds similar to yours that are interested in trying medical marijuana for the first time?
I would advise patients, in general, to ease into the pool of MMJ, as it’s a better way to find products that work for you and with you. Being able to explore the various possibilities with your technician is part of the fun in finding what works.
You’re our first Keystone at Home Driver! What are some parts of this new position that you like?
Being the first Keystone delivery Driver brings on a lot of responsibility that I’m looking forward to taking on. I get to meet new patients as well as get to know them face to face in a more relaxing environment. Honestly, it’s an amazing part of the new job. Every day I get to strike up a quick conversation whether it be about products or daily life (with the patients) and it’s definitely rewarding for me.
You love fly fishing! Could you tell us a little bit more about that for us novices, and do you ever find marijuana tied into that passion?
I find that being able to separate myself from the bustling world around me and medicating while fly fishing are some of the most relaxing times I’ve ever spent alone. Fly fishing is different from normal spin-cast fishing in the sense of the way you’re presenting the lure/bait. You gently whip the fly line back and forth in the air gaining slackline as to literally shoot the line out when it’s straight like a catapult but with fishing line. It straightens out and the tippet end of the line which holds the fly gently floats down to the water as to cause no disturbance or rippling. Fish essentially confuse these flies with actual insects since they are minuscule and gulp them on the surface.
Let’s go for some more fun questions! If you could vape with any 3 people, who would you want to vape with?
If you could have any superpower, what would you want to have?
