Ralph, King of Prussia Dispensary Technician
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
My name is Ralph Voit and I am 23 years old. I grew up in Berks County, Pennsylvania, and now reside in the glorious city of Philadelphia. I am currently a Dispensary Technician at the King of Prussia location and have an avid adoration for marijuana, as well as the lovely staff and patients I get to see everyday. I attended college at Temple University to be a Music Educator. I later quit to pursue a budding passion for cooking, although I still find comfort in music as a hobby. I’m currently taking a break from cooking and have found a cozy home here at Keystone. I am a homebody, and when I’m not at Keystone you can find me tending to my house plants, making food, playing music, playing with my cat Godiva, or spending time with my significant other.
What made you want to try medical marijuana?
After working at Keystone and being around the technicians I absorbed a lot of knowledge about marijuana. I knew there was a good chance marijuana could improve my quality of life in both pain and stress management.
What do you take medical marijuana for?
I take medical marijuana because it is a natural way to help a plethora of different pains I experience throughout the day. It also helps slow down my mind at night and allows me to regulate my sleep schedule and handle my anxiety.
What products/strains/terpenes/cannabinoids/consumption methods have you found to be the most helpful for you when treating your condition?
I find I prefer the near immediate effects of both flower and concentrates the most. However, I use a little bit of everything because I tend to avoid heavy psychoactivity during the day. A high CBD RSO like Harle-Tsu or a 1:1 cartridge like Lemon G or Harlequin usually puts a pep in my step during the daytime. Ice Cream Cake is a strain that I always have lying around for the end of the day. It helps me get to sleep and gives me supreme relaxation because of its high amounts of limonene and myrcene. I love to look out for strains with high CBG and CBC like Full Nelson to help with the occasional stomach ache as well.
What would you tell patients who may have conditions or backgrounds similar to yours that are interested in trying medical marijuana for the first time?
I would highly recommend getting your card! The medical professionals and staff at Keystone do a wonderful job of answering any questions, and making the process of educating yourself on marijuana easy and painless. I would also recommend being open to suggestions and trying a multitude of strains/consumption methods. You never know what is going to knock your socks off and give you great effects. The more marijuana you try the more you can reference terpenes and cannabinoids of past products. This will help you pinpoint better effects in future products.
You’re a music lover and know how to play a few instruments! Does marijuana ever have an influence in the music you like to listen to or the music you like to make?
Yes of course! I love listening to old music whether it be 50’s big band jazz or classical music from the 1800’s. The effects of marijuana and music like that create a lovely little time machine for me to dance around in at night. When I’m getting work done or need background music I listen to more modern, rhythmically driven music like rock and hip hop. Some of my favorites are Anderson .Paak, Errol Garner, The Allman Brothers, and Stevie Wonder.
You also have a culinary passion! Has marijuana ever played a role in this at all? Are there any favorite foods you like to make when you medicate?
Food and marijuana go together like potatoes and fat. When tasting or developing recipes I find that marijuana can help boost my creativity through the roof. I like to make very simple food when medicated because I end up making a mess if I don’t. Stuff that you eat with your family and has a strong, simple flavor profile like whole roasted chicken or homemade lasagna are my favorites to cook while medicated.
If you could vape with any 3 people in the world, who would you want to vape with?
- Seth rogen. He would have funny stories and he’s a marijuana icon/inspiration.
- Chef Isaac Toups. He’s a crazy cajun chef with great food and would be fun to medicate and cook with.
- Joe Dart. He is the bassist for Vulfpeck and has some of the most tasteful baselines ever.
If you could be best friends with any fictional character, who would you pick?
The iron giant. He’s a giant robot with a big gun and an even bigger heart. That’s best friend material.
